This portfolio contains work done in SOC 334: Urban Sociology in a Global Perspective. I taught this course in both the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters, at the same time that I was a faculty participant in the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) seminar for the academic year 2016-17. 28 students registered for this course in the Spring semester, and this portfolio presents some of their work (with any identifying information redacted). All course material was drafted on Google docs, and links to those documents are also provided where appropriate.

The WAC seminar inspired me to ask the following questions about the role of writing in a Sociology classroom:

How can writing help students think sociologically, both as an individual and as an expert?

I hope that the evidence provided in this portfolio will show how I explored this question in the classroom. For a full background and reflection on the portfolio, please click on 'Reflections' on the top menu.
